Announcing the birth of The Author’s Pen

Let me take this opportunity to announce the birth of The Author’s Pen, my new blog to accommodate my creative work. Readers are welcome to read and leave comments but please note that all pieces of writing are copyrighted.

I would like to take this as a learning point for myself and to everyone.

First, when posting a comment, if you are a student, please identify yourself by posting your real name and class. This is to prevent using my comment space from being misused as a “what’s your name and where are you from?”pop quiz. Starting from Monday 10 March, I will delete any such new messages.

Second, when posting, use English and standard spelling. No SMS language or informal spelling please. My main purpose of this blog is to promote thinking and good language. If you have to resort to using Malay, then use good, standard Malay.

Thirdly, if you are referring to a particular post by a particular person, before you type anything else, say “I refer to the previous post by XXXX. He said “Quote Post…” < fill in your comment>”. Do not assume that I or anyone else knows who your comment is meant for.

Lastly, steadyhands is my nickname given to me (Mr Khairul Nizam) by my rugby playing friends from Catholic Junior College because I can handle the rugby ball very well and do not fumble often. That’s the history behind it. And if you still do not know who he is, Mr Khairul Nizam is an English Language teacher, currently plying his trade at Madrasah Al-Irsyad as a personal jihad to educate her students in the English language to the best of his ability.
